Resource Books for Teachers: Listening

Offers an array of fresh and original activities for helping students learn to listen, ranging from raising awareness of individual sounds to full-scale listening projects.

Listening looks at what makes a good listener and how teachers can motivate learners to develop confidence and independence in listening. There are over 70 classroom activities, including rasing learnenrs' awareness of individual sounds and intonation patterns, exploiting published materials, radio,and television, 'listening in real life', and listening projects. An Appendix provides advice on making your own listening materials.

The popular RESOURCE BOOKS FOR TEACHERS series gives teachers practical advice and guidance, along with resource ideas and materials for the classroom. The tasks and activities are clearly presented, and offer teachers the information they need about level, time, preparation, materials, classroom management, monitoring, and follow-up activities. Each book offers up to 100 ideas, as well as variations that encourage teachers to adapt the activities to suite their individual classrooms.
