Evropské jazykové portfolio se skládá ze tří vzájemně propojených částí - Jazykového pasu, Jazykového životopisu a Souboru dokumentů a prací. Má umožňovat, aby měl každý student v podmínkách jednotné Evropy u sebe dokument, ve kterém je uvedena a potvrzena určitá úroveň osvojení cizího jazyka. To může přispět k usnadnění evropské mobility a pomoci například zaměstnavatelům nebo vzdělávacím institucím.
