For almost four centuries have been buried at the Old Jewish Cemetery in Prague the erudite and mighty Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel who is widely known to scholars of Judaism as the Maharal of Prague, or simply The MaHaRaL. The story about how he created a golem to defend the Prague ghetto from anti-Semitic attacks is popular even today.

Then the Rabbi slipped into its mouth a strip of parchment with God’s name on it and the peacefully lying creature twitched, its body filled with energy that his creator injected in it. The Golem was born.
